About me

Writing chose me. I was in the middle of a safe and parent-pleasing Diploma in Marketing Management when writing and the wonderful distracting world of advertising caught my attention and became my focus. I left the safe world of Marketing and made the move to AAA School of Advertising. After an intensive internship, I began thinking and writing for Ogilvy Johannesburg in 2001. There I produced some famous (and not so famous) campaigns for KFC, Sprite, Channel O, Mrs. Balls and Joko tea.

In 2006, I joined the Jupiter Drawing Room where I honed my skills and worked on a variety of brands including Discovery Health, Sanofi-Aventis, Investec Asset Management and then when TJDR made advertising history by winning R2bn worth of business, the desks got shinier, more people walked the corridors and there was work to be done on South African Airways, Sasol, Absa Bank & Absa Capital, Lusters Pink, PPC, CNA, Children of Fire, MTN Business. TJDR also allowed me to add to my metal with wins and finalists including D&AD, Loeries, Midas Awards.

In 2010, I made a decision to try different verticals in the Communications mix, and I worked with The Brand Union in creating strategically informed brand stories and writing brand books for their clients across the continent. I also worked at Trinergy Brand Connectors as a Creative Strategist on sponsorship and activations, creating brand experiences for sponsorship properties for Vodacom, Honda Motorbikes, Nokia, Old Mutual and Nedbank. I’m currently a Consulting Creative for ad agencies such as Ofyt, MetropolitanRepublic, DDB Ghana, as well as the creative arm of BlackSwan doing work for Old Mutual (National Choir Festival sponsorship), FEM, The Communications Firm, SABC Group Sales and City of Johannesburg.

I also like chairs, and teacup pigs, a lot.
